The glaciers of the Rwenzori Mountains in Western Uganda are reported to be disappearing.

The Rwenzori Mountains in Western Uganda have been covered by glaciers for  a very long time. However due to climate change there are reports of disappearing glacier from the second longest mountain in Africa.

Rwenzori has been dubbed the “African Alps,” the “Mountains of the Moon” and the “snowy source of the Nile”. Much has been written about their snow-capped peaks, but a recent expedition has found that the glaciers that have for centuries captured imaginations will soon be history.

Since the beginning of the 20th century, most of the Rwenzori glacier has melted. Scientists estimate what remains will be gone within 10 or 15 years.

Here is a footage by Malcolm Webb of Aljazeera who visited the Rwenzori Mountains which borders Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
